Job Description

Our client is a rapidly growing IT, strategy, financial and legal professional services company with a focus on the Aviation, Security and Rail sectors.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of actionable insight across a suite of projects, primarily in Aviation and Defence.

The role will require you to be analytical and versatile. To evaluate the problem space and apply tools and techniques that are best suited to driving a successful outcome. This could be anything from rigorous statistical analysis to the development of advanced, computationally intensive numerical models. The role demands programming experience and mastery of the ingestion, manipulation, and analysis of large datasets.

The role requires a mixture of home and onsite working with the expectation that the successful candidate will manage their own time to best deliver for customers. You will be required to work in the Guildford office 2 days/week.

Required Skills

This role demands excellent insight and ability to formulate creative solutions to difficult problems, often with complex, contextual data. Passion for learning and ability to develop deep subject matter expertise are vital to deliver the required results. Additionally communicating between and working with a team of data scientists and developers will be an essential skill.

Specifically, to be successful in this role, a candidate must possess the following attributes:

  • Well versed in Python and SQL. Experience with Python libraries such as SciKit Learn, Pandas, Numpy are highly desirable.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow
  • Understanding the full data science project life cycle, from initial problem statement through data engineering, model building and model evaluation
  • Able to perform ad-hoc data mining and combine/enrich large sets of structured and unstructured data from several sources.
  • Good understanding of statistics and probability. A strong foundation in calculus, linear algebra and analysis would be highly advantageous.
