How it all began…

On leaving the British Army, Cliff Allum MBE, wanted to create a better way for former service men and women to access second careers after resettlement.

Pimento Connection was created in a bar for friends and colleagues and the business has grown from strength to strength over the last 20 years.

The name PIMENTO first was used in World War 2 in France by Cliff’s close friend and hero, Tony Brooks. A fluent French speaker, Tony joined and operated as a member of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and, whilst still aged barely 20 years old, was twice parachuted into France to form and command a group of resistance fighters (code-named PIMENTO)

Cliff coordinated the new #buddybench and Saturday`s events at a successful opening ceremony in the Walled Garden which updates the original memorial bench for Major Charles Greene, a RFC/RAF Fighter Pilot in WW1 and CO for Sunbury`s Home Guard in WW2.

It is now a place for #veterans and the wider community to sit, reflect and talk.

As part of #ArmedForcesWeek and #ArmedForcesDay our founder and director, Cliff Allum MBE FRGS has been instrumental in coordinating this event in 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆-𝗼𝗻-𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 this 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟳 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 @𝟭𝟬𝟯𝟬.

The ceremony will be attended by the local MP, residents, including Veterans as well as Army, Sea and Air Cadets units. In the evening, the local pubs will be holding BBQ, live music and a raffle to raise money for the charities @combatstress for Veteran mental health, and @pilgrimbanditscharity which assists Veterans in continuing to lead active lives.

Larger organisations don`t always have the advantage when competing for talent. In fact, many candidates tell us they are actively seeking smaller businesses to work for, and the reasons are surprisingly consistent:
