Job Description

£40,000 to £48,000 plus 10% annual bonus

London (Battersea Power Station)

Reporting to the COO, you will lead and manage all financial operations related to billing, collections, accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP).

This role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely billing and providing exceptional service to customers and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of billing experience at a top tier utility operator or similar recurring revenue provider, strategic vision, operational expertise, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities of the Candidate:

Billing & Customer Support

  • Address and resolve customer billing enquiries and disputes in a professional and timely manner.
  • Work cross-functionally with Customer Success and Software Development to ensure billing aligns with contract terms.

Collection & Account Receivable

  • Identify and partner with a third-party debt collection agency to assign and collect oldest debts.
  • Pursue customers daily via phone and email for payment of overdue invoices and schedule payment plans, when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate debt management of past due invoices through Xero.
  • Generate and analyse AR reports and provide regular update to leadership.

Account Payable

  • Review and approve monthly supplier invoices
  • Input approved supplier invoices into Xer
  • Review historical invoices and conduct month-on-month cost analysis
  • Forecast operating and service costs with CEO

Leadership & Compliance

  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Executive Team, billing partners (Xero & GoCardless) and Software Development team
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and company policies.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in billing, collections, AR/AP management, or related financial operation.
  • Experience with Xero and GoCardless, or similar accounting and payment systems. Knowledge of Stripe or Billingbooth a plus.
  • Knowledge of BT Wholesale and TalkTalk / PXC Wholesale invoicing.
  • Strong track record of building and scaling billing and payment operations.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a passion for coaching and development.
