You receive (yet another) LinkedIn message from a Talent Partner offering to help fill your open vacancies….First instinct is usually a polite ‘thanks, but our in-house Talent Acquisition team is managing it’ and fair enough, that’s exactly how it should be. Internal Talent teams are hugely valuable to every business.
But perhaps one month, two months later, the same roles may still be open. They’ve been reposted on LinkedIn and on job boards; Hiring Managers are still stretched; internal talent teams are still balancing recruitment alongside other time-pressured priorities.
Then there are the genuinely niche roles that require genuinely niche people. The kind who rarely apply through normal channels because most of these hires happen through existing Defence networks, referrals and reputation.
Vacancies that require: eDV cleared professionals. DV and SC cleared Engineers. Defence experienced Business Development Directors. WO1s. WO2s. Majors. Lieutenant Colonels. Adjutants. Chiefs of Staff. Armourers.
This is when being a Veteran-owned business matters. We’ve been part of the Veteran Community for over 40 years, with a Defence recruitment network built over the last 20+ years.
We are also a Silver Defence Employer Recognition Scheme award holder and a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant. We employ Veterans and we have an extensive Veteran network to match.
So why do some vacancies stay open? Not because internal teams aren’t capable – far from it. But because security-cleared roles need a security-cleared network, which isn’t always found in mainstream channels.
Thankfully, we’ve been part of this network for years.
