While everyone else embraces AI and automation, we’re still reading CVs, picking up the phone and having real conversations with candidates and applicants. What does that say about us? Old-fashioned? Behind the times?
Possibly!! But we pride ourselves on calling people who we think could be right for the job, more often than not, because we spoke to them months ago, asked questions and listened to the answers.
Much like when we send a connection request on LinkedIn, we explain why we’re getting in touch, and when we put someone’s profile in front of a Hiring Manager, we show them exactly why we think they’re worth a conversation. Being open and honest is much more appealing.
Everyone knows a CV tells you what a person has done professionally, but it doesn’t tell you everything they’re capable of, what makes them tick or the skills they’ve never thought to put on paper.
Sometimes, all it takes is one more question, and luckily for us, we like asking them.
Of course, we’re not anti-AI; technology definitely has its uses (although we don’t use it to write our adverts or newsletters either…maybe we’re missing a trick?)
We just don’t believe the ‘getting to know people’ part needs automating.
So, Hiring Managers, do you need another CV in your inbox, or a Recruitment Partner who can tell you exactly why a candidate is worth meeting?
And candidates, would you rather be another applicant in an inbox, or be known for more than what’s on your CV?
Maybe progress isn’t about doing everything differently. It’s about remembering what works.
