We’ve all been there: a new hiring need emerges, time is scheduled in the calendar to draft the job description, and a discussion takes place to define the exact requirements for the new or replacement role. Then:
- The JD is finalised
- Budget is signed off
- Start date is established
Now what?
Habit kicks in, we reach for the tried and tested Preferred Supplier List (PSL) and/or company database and trigger the new vacancy.
Swamped 7 days later with a ridiculously high influx of CVs yet with little time to read and review, frustration ensues and the pressure is on to make a decision. Yet no profile stands out.
Is this really the easier route to take? Habit means that we opt for a known method because we have used it before. But what if the current habit isn’t working?
Is it time to step out of your comfort zone and introduce a new routine? The one the elite companies use? Your competitors? The one you follow online (but have always stuck with the approved PSL because that is what protocol says to do)?
Habit loops begin like this:
Protocol
Then this happens:
The same – only with more frustration and looping back to the original problem
BUT – what if you changed the routine?
The cue will remain a constant, but surely changing the routine is key to changing the reward?
Why stick with the same routine when the reward doesn’t improve?
There is an alternative; maybe 2025 is your year to explore it?
Pimento: Providing an established, structured routine that will quickly reward you with exceptional candidate profiles, transparency, attention to detail, head hunting, sourcing of security cleared candidates, commitment and consistency.
2025 is your year to try something different.
